At HELBUS, the students complete the University of Northampton’s Bachelor of Arts in Business and Management degree (BA Hons). The degree is taught in English and is worth 180 ECTS credits, the European standard for university-level coursework.

Completing your degree
Do you feel at home in the front row of a lecture hall, or do you thrive in an online environment? At HELBUS, there’s room for both types of learning.
The entire BA degree can be completed in either two calendar years on-site or in three years remotely. Students have the freedom to choose the mode of study that suits them best: an intensive pace alongside their peers while enjoying student life to its fullest, or a more flexible pace that allows them to work while studying.
Studying on-site
- Attendance is required every weekday from 9:00–12:30.
- On-site studies are well suited for those who want to fully engage in student life with all its activities, traditions, and quirks, and can commit to studying full-time to graduate quickly.
- The BA programme starts every September and January.

Who can apply?
Anyone with a strong motivation to develop into a business leader, sufficient English skills, and an appropriate educational background. At HELBUS, success is earned through hard work – the kind of work that shapes the professionals of the future.
Applications for the BA programme are submitted via an online form. Admissions are open all year round, and applicants receive a decision within two weeks. If accepted, the applicant can choose whether to start their studies or not. A place offered by HELBUS can be declined before the start of the programme.
To be eligible to apply, candidates must have completed a secondary education qualification in Finland or abroad. HELBUS accepts the following qualifications:
- Finnish Matriculation Examination
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
- European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma
- Reifeprüfung Diploma
- Vocational qualification, specialist vocational qualification, or an equivalent previous qualification
- A foreign qualification that grants eligibility for equivalent higher education studies in the respective country.
Applicants can also apply before completing their secondary education. In this case, HELBUS can grant conditional admission, which becomes final once the applicant submits their diploma.
Language requirements
All instruction at HELBUS is in English. Of course, you will make fast progress in your language and communication skills as you study. However, applicants need to fulfil at least one of the following English language requirements in order to succeed in their studies:
- Grade C or higher in the Finnish Matriculation Examination’s advanced English test
- Grade 4 or higher in English from a vocational school (on a scale from 1 to 5)
- Secondary education completed partly or entirely in English
- An official language exam, such as:
- IELTS: overall score 6.0 with no section below 5.5
- TOEFL: overall score 70, minimum scores: Listening – 17, Reading – 18, Writing – 17, Speaking – 20.

Tuition fees
An investment in education is an investment in your future. A high quality degree opens doors to a wide range of career options, a competitive salary, and the confidence to seize every opportunity the future has to offer.
As a private business school, HELBUS funds its services through tuition fees. While these fees cover all necessary electronic learning materials, students must have their own computers.
Tuition fees vary based on the mode of study (remote or on-site).

Important information regarding tuition fees
- HELBUS reserves the right to change the fees. Tuition fees include VAT (25,5%). If the tax increases, the price of the studies will increase accordingly. If the tax decreases or is partially or completely removed, the price will not decrease accordingly.
- If you wish to cancel your participation in the BA programme, you need to do so via email before the due date of the first installment mentioned in the table above. HELBUS will not refund any paid tuition fees.
- The prices and payment schedule apply to citizens of Finland and EU countries, as well as non-EU citizens who have permanent residency in the EU area.

BA graduates can also continue their studies in HELBUS’ MBA programme as well as Master’s degrees in Finnish universities and universities abroad. FAQ
I have previously studied at a vocational school. Can I still apply?
You can apply to HELBUS if you’ve completed a high school diploma or are currently finishing one. If you have a vocational qualification, you can also apply and start your BA studies. For example, a business administration qualification is a great foundation for studying at HELBUS. Further up this page, we’ve listed the qualifications that make you eligible to apply.
When will I hear if I’ve been accepted by HELBUS?
Once you’ve submitted your application for the BA programme, you will receive an invitation to an interview within a few days. After the interview, you’ll receive the admissions decision within two weeks.
By when should I accept my study place at the latest?
No later than three weeks before the programme starts. However, an admissions decision doesn't mean you have to start your studies immediately.
Can I postpone my studies?
Yes! If unexpected changes occur in your life or if you're, for example, about to join the military, you can request a deferral for starting your studies even if you’ve already accepted the place.
What kind of modules does HELBUS offer?
The BA programme content and modules are explained further up on this page. During your studies, you’ll cover different aspects of business, such as management, marketing, accounting, sales, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and strategy. All the courses are taught in English in line with the University of Northampton’s requirements.
I don’t meet the English language requirements. Can I still apply?
You can still apply for the Bachelor’s degree programme! If your matriculation exam grade is below a C, HELBUS will assess your ability to study in English through your motivation letter and additional interview questions. Therefore, it’s important to highlight in your motivation letter the environment in which you’ve practised English.
Does HELBUS have a foreign exchange system?
Currently, HELBUS does not offer the opportunity for student exchange programmes abroad.
Can I receive financial aid or benefits from Kela?
Yes, students can apply for Kela’s student benefits and loans provided they are otherwise eligible.
